Learn all about the Bortle Sky Scale and where you can find some of the best locations to view the night sky. If you're not familiar with the Bortle Sky Scale, it's a nine-level numeric scale measuring the night sky's brightness of a particular location to quantify the astronomical observability of celestial objects and the night sky. In simpler terms, it's a rating system that ranks the night sky based on how much light pollution is in the sky and how visible the stars are, the lower the number, the darker the sky. Glacier National Park is an International Dark Sky Park and has a rating of 2 on the Bortle Scale.
