Hiking in Montana means hiking in bear country and although bear encounters are unlikely when taking proper precautions, think of bear spray as your insurance; it's better to have it and not need to use it than it is to come face to face with a grizzly bear when you round a corner on a trail and be unprepared. Our Counter Assault Bear Spray was developed in conjunction with the University of Montana by someone who survived a grizzly bear encounter. The formula used in Counter Assault contains the maximum capsaicin and related capsaicinoids allowed by law, 2%, and sprays up to 32 feet in 7 seconds to deter all species of bears.
PRE-ORDER DETAILS: In an effort to alleviate some stress over entering bear country and tracking down bear spray, we are happy to offer bear spray as a pre-order item that can only be picked up at our West Glacier Belton Depot location. We are conveniently located in West Glacier, just outside of the entrance to Glacier National Park so you don't have to run around to track down the essentials. Our summer hours of operation (May 11-October 13) are 9am-5pm, 7 days a week. If your order also contains items other than bear spray, we will ship the other items to you within the next business day or two, you will receive an email with a shipping confirmation and tracking number for the remainder of your order. To pick up your bear spray, please provide the full name the bear spray was ordered under to the associate working in our store and they will grab your order for you! We will send an email to you detailing all of the information you need to pick up your bear spray so you can get out there to enjoy the beauty that Glacier has to offer and make the most of your time here.

NOTE: All bear spray sales are final, unused bear spray cannot be returned for a refund. Bear spray cannot be carried on or checked on commercial airlines, TSA will confiscate any bear spray at the airport. You can drop your bear spray off at any of our GNPC store locations, with NPS or hand your bear spray to another hiker at the trailhead.
