Pony Express Throw Blanket

$120.00

Horses are a vital part of Blackfeet life. Horses have been used for hunting and traveling, fighting in wars, and still have a large presence on the plains and prairies.

In beautiful shades of sky blue, Piikani/Blackfeet artist John Isaiah Pepion has painted a family of horses galloping across a vibrant sunset. At the heart of his design, he pays tribute to the horse culture of his people, while the Morning Star bands the top and bottom of the blanket, bringing good luck, positive dreams, and blessings.

“Hunting, war, traveling—we used horses for all of it. Horses often appeared on traditional ledger art as part of the battle and hunting stories Blackfeet artists told, they were that important to our lifestyle,” shares John.
