If you love wildflowers, you probably know how great Glacier is for viewing them but did you know that the alpine glacier poppy is a rare site to see? These poppies, also known as pygmy poppies, only grow in Montana, British Columbia and Alberta with only 23 known growing areas with Glacier having the heaviest concentration of poppies. These brightly colored flowers grow at high mountain elevations and generally bloom in July and August.
